The Kaniva Historical Museum has been recently restored and contains and extensive range of household items and farming memorabilia.
Of particular interest is the horse trough that was donated by Annis and George Bills. Bills bequeathed approximately 70,000 horse troughs. This resulted in them being used all over Australia.

The historical society and geneology group meet on the 1st Thursday, 7.30pm at the Old Kaniva Shire Offices, Baker St, off Commercial St, opposite Kaniva Community Roadhouse. Contact Ross & Fran McDonald, Ph 5392 2693.
There are a number of old cemeteries around the area. The Kaniva Cemetery is located 1.6km west of Kaniva on the right hand side of the Western Highway
