Lions Club

Kaniva Lions Club is Kaniva's premier volunteer group for active volunteers.
We are the only Service Club in Kaniva and have been around since 1966!

What are we currently involved in?
- Wetlands and Fauna Park
- Car & Bike show (1st Saturday in February)
-Driver Reviver (Easter, Queen’s Birthday weekend, AFL Grand Final weekend)
- Cemetery care
- Royal Children's Hospital Appeal (Good Friday)
- Debutante Ball (Biannual)
- Youth of the Year
- Youth Exchange
-Lions Christmas Cakes and Puddings and Lions Mints

Along with the listed projects we also hire out the following equipment
- BBQ Trailer
- Merry go Round
- Mobile Cool-room
- Tables/Chairs/Linen

Currently, we conduct all these projects with 19 active members. We are grateful to those members and the many people from the community that are willing to volunteer when we run an event. A number of our major activities would not happen without community assistance. And we always need at least one Lions member to be in attendance at events to meet our insurance obligations.

It is also very rewarding to know that most of the money raised through the projects and programs remains in the community by being donated back through various organisations such as the Girl Guides, Scouts, Cancer Council Unit, Kaniva Hospital, Men’s Shed, Community HUB and the P12 College.

Our current District Governor; Trevor Hirth says that becoming a Lion involves:
- Compassion and a wish to help others
- Commitment to attend events as well as the social and business meetings
- Companionship through the club and community involvement
